The NEW Newport Wooden Boat Show Is Coming Thursday – Sunday

Thursday, opening day of the Newport International Boat Show, will feature the inaugural day of the first ever Newport Wooden Boat Show. Featuring many of our favorite JD and TotalBoat customers, the show will offer in-water basin and land displays featuring Hinckley, Hunt and other Down East-style boats again this year, concurrently with the Newport International Boat Show and Newport Brokerage Boat Show. Additionally, show attendees will find a beautiful array of wooden boats (power and sail) in the water at Bowen’s Wharf Marina for the inaugural Bowen’s Wharf Newport Wooden Boat Show. Admission is free to discover spectacular wooden craftsmanship from Pease BoatworksConcordia CompanyArey’s PondNewport Nautical TimbersInternational Yacht Restoration School.

With the parking lot at Bowen’s Wharf packed with wooden dreams from these fine builders, it is easy to find an excuse to skip work, forget the beach, and head directly to Bowen’s Wharf for a glimpse of some of the most beautiful wooden boats in the world. YES! In the WORLD!

The new show is a nod to a rise in the numbers of wooden boat ownership, with many new wooden boats being custom built and old ones restored in boat shops all over the country and beyond. In a world of Sea Rays, Grady Whites, and Catalinas, there is a large population of boat owners who still seek the massive amount of maintenance and a beefy budget required to own and upkeep a classy wooden boat. And “classy” might just be the selling point. Wooden boats, with gleaming varnish and paint that looks like glass, are head turners in the yard and at rest in home port.

Two motor yachts you won’t want to miss are Pilar from Shannon River Marine Heritage Foundation and the 85′ Enticer from McMillen Yachts.

See you at the show.
